A review of the Redline Open Heart from Android Watches

December 6, 2012 Leave a comment

The Android Red Line Open Heart edition men’s watch from Android Watches is at first glance, a nice, but nothing spectacular sort of watch. But that is at first glance. Upon closer inspection you will find that it is a very nice watch, and that it has some cool features and a simple but eye catching design,  considering it’s low price point, especially for an Android. You can find this watch for as cheap as $130.00 if you look hard enough on the web. GreatTiming’s store happens to carry it for this amount.

Android Watches Redline Open Heart

Now, let’s talk about some of the features of this watch. It is, as you can probably gather from the “Open Heart” part of it’s name, one of android’s skeletonized watches. For those not familiar with the android watch company and their watches that feature this, it is a neat little concept that certainly makes your watch a little more interesting to look at and gives it that “wow” factor. Basically, some of the moving parts that make your watch tick so to speak, are exposed and visible in the face of the watch. Rather than hide them within the case of the watch, android has made them a focal point of the watch itself, and as you stare into the face of your watch you will see the little cogs and gears that make your watch move in action. Some people might not like this feature, and think it detracts from the uniformity of this watch. But for those in that camp; which you will know if you have read any of my prior reviews that I am most certainly not as I love the skeleton feature, go buy a Rolex or similar if you want uniformity and one boring color for your watch. The skeleton feature is there to add a little stylistic pop, which is one of the reasons that I love android watches so much. They are certainly never run of the mill.

The watch also features a Miyota 82S0 automatic, 21 jeweled movement, a large 45mm case, a double stitched genuine leather band, limited coloration options as it only comes in one scheme which is a black bezel with silver band end pieces, and like most other androids it is water resistant up to 100 meters or 330 feet.

All in all, this watch isn’t anything to write home about, but it is a nice, casual watch to wear around on your daily grind. Probably not the best if you are trying to impress big wig company execs at a board meeting or something, but then again I would hope my presentation would be a better gauge of that than my watch. I would wear it on a nice date; it isn’t overly flashy or garish and won’t make you seem like you are trying too hard, and it definitely looks better than that old mickey mouse watch you have lying around somewhere. Not even close to a favorite watch from android, but if you have less than a hundred and fifty clams in your pocket this is about as good as it gets. You can always buy a nicer watch later, right?

Overall I would have to give it about a solid 3 of 5. It looks good for it’s price, it’s price is certainly reasonable for it’s craftsmanship and features, it’s just not an amazing watch like some of Android’s other watches which aren’t too much more expensive. It’s just lacking that certain…something. It is not an ugly watch by any means, and i’m sure there are some out there who would love a nice little subdued watch such as this and think it is the perfect blend of average and above average styling. Different but not strange. But it just doesn’t speak my language like some of the other Androids that I have, like my Mystique Skeleton.

But hey, we can’t all be winners right?

Understanding Water Resistance

When it’s time to choose a wristwatch that defies the elements, understanding water resistance is crucial. Many of today’s high-tech wristwatches feature incredible water resistance that actually allows their wearers to enjoy scuba diving, swimming, showering or boating while they wear their timepieces. However, there are a variety of water resistance levels, so it’s important to understand how water resistance in measured in terms of wristwatches.

Typically, water resistance is measured in meters. If you’re shopping for models with superior water resistance, look for timepieces with higher meter numbers for water resistance. The higher the meter number, the deeper you may go underwater without damaging your new wristwatch. Sometimes, luxury timepieces also feature water resistance ratings that are measured in bars. Again, the higher the bar measurement, the more water-resistant the timepiece will be.

Examples of watch makers who specialize in sporty designs that are very water-resistant include Tag Heuer, Omega, Rolex, and Timex. However, there are thousands of other watch manufacturers that also create designs with some degree of water resistance. The key to finding the right model for your needs is determining how many meters or bars of water resistance you really need. After all, there’s no need to pay extra for incredible water resistance that you won’t even use. You may find water-resistant watches at all price points. However, for almost water-proof designs, it’s best to buy from respected manufacturers who are known for their high-performance wristwatches. Prices for water resistant watches range from one hundred dollars to several hundred thousand dollars; therefore, you’ll have a dizzying array of styles to choose from.

If you’ve got a hot date planned and you want to make a perfect first impression, learning how to choose the right watch for your date will help you to achieve your goal. By coordinating your wristwatch with your preferred date outfit, you’ll be able to look your best while you show off your own personal style. When it comes to choosing the right watch for your date, it’s important to consider your overall image. For example, if you’re planning on wearing jeans and a t-shirt and enjoying a casual evening with your sweetheart, consider donning a casual sports watch (such as a Timex design) or a plastic Swatch. These fun and functional watches will never make you look like you’re trying too hard, and they offer plenty of features, such as luminous faces, colorful straps, and alarms. Typically, you may find these sorts of designs for fifty to one hundred dollars.

For a more formal date, look for elegant style that is the perfect complement to dress pants and a nice shirt. Bulova, Seiko and Circa all create sophisticated watch styles that are ideal accessories for dressier attire. Look for a watch that you’re proud to wear, and always seek out unique style details that give your date night look a touch of originality and beauty. Choose a material that suits your coloring; for example, if you have a warm skin tone, choose yellow gold or rose gold, as it will look perfect with your natural coloring. If your skin tone is cool, you’ll look better in a white gold, silver, or stainless steel wristwatch that brings out the blue and pink tones in your complexion.

Of course, you can’t go wrong with a luxury timepiece, such as a Piaget or Rolex. These classic, collectible designs are crafted to impress, and they make an unforgettable statement. Such wristwatches send a message of status and success, and that’s why many men (and women) enjoy wearing them on big evenings out.
