A Little Post-Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday Talk

November 26, 2012 Leave a comment

After the long weekend and much turkey eating and stuffing our faces, it is time for things to go back to normal (at least until Christmas gets a little closer) and for people to start getting back to work. I’m not really too sure about the rest of the country, but up here in Ohio we had an absolutely gorgeous day for thanksgiving. It reminded me of an end of summer day rather than the day of thanksgiving. It had to be about 60 degrees that day. And then the next day was more like November in Ohio because it was absolutely freezing. It was strange, almost surreal, that it was so nice the day of thanksgiving and then as if it hadn’t even happened, we got snow (albeit a very little amount) the very next day. We had an excellent holiday here at the GreatTiming blog, and here’s hoping that you all did as well.

As all of you know, Black Friday is the day after thanksgiving, when shoppers wait in seemingly endless lines at ungodly hours of the early morning so that they can rush stores and re-enact scenes from the LA riots in all of their favorite shopping malls and retail stores across the nation for great deals on everything from plasma screens and electronic devices to this years hot new children’s toys. All for their friends and families. And these people are not messing around. I heard from a few people who braved the Black Friday masses that some shoppers were getting borderline violent over some products and in certain stores. I was told that a local Victoria’s Secret seemed more like an MMA cage fight rather than a retail store. Garments were being thrown, tables over turned, people smashed around. But that is the extent that people will go to for the people that they love. It’s really worth it though considering some of the great deals that some people have gotten on products that could be quite expensive. But is all of the black Friday craze soon to be a thing of the past?

A new shopping trend is taking root, infact it’s going right now as I am typing this, and you can do it from the safety and security of your home right from your couch and your laptop. Forget the lines and the irate shoppers, and leave the football pads at home. Cyber Monday is becoming the new way to get great deals for everybody on your Christmas list this year. Over the past few years online shopping has certainly gained in popularity, to say the least, and now, there is one day where seemingly everyone is offering great deals for those who prefer online shopping. Everything from jewelry, clothing, home accessories, and electronics are being discounted by as much as 65 percent on select products from places such as Amazon right now all across the internet. Some places will haveĀ  deals that last all week and wont simply be here for one day. It is expected that so many people will be cashing in on these great deals that companies have had to block many retail websites from being accessed while employees are at work. Could this be the new craze? It certainly seems like it could be that way. I know I would rather get great deals at home on my laptop in my pajamas with a beer in my hand rather than fighting through the horde of orcs at the shopping mall.

Head on over to our website to take advantage of the great deals and get 10% off any purchase when you enter the special code at checkout!
Happy holidays.
